We've had quite a few changes since I posted in February. Our son has had two surgeries. Both have been successful. He had eye muscle surgery in March. Recovery from the anesthesia wasn't much fun, but he has done well. Then in May, he had surgery to get ear tubes. This surgery was a much easier procedure for him.
My husband and I became foster parents. It is a process we started in 2009, but we had been plodding along at completing the mountain of required paperwork. We've had some respite placements and a couple of longer placements. Right now we have 3 little ones who keep us very busy! We have 4 children in the house age 7 and under...
AND.....
Two weeks after the first long term foster care placement arrived, we found out that we are expecting. Zoiks! We are delighted, but it was completely unexpected as we have been trying to have another child for nearly 3 years without success. After a few nervous weeks, we heard the heartbeat at 8 weeks 6 days at my first ultrasound. I am now 15 weeks, 1 day pregnant and things seem to be going well. The little one should join us sometime in February. We won't be able to find out the gender until 26-28 weeks when my doctor schedules my next (and final) ultrasound.

Life...or something like it...
There have been a lot of developments with little man in the past few weeks. It is disheartening, but maybe his needs are one of the reasons why we have been unable to have more children at this time.
We're working through these issues which seem to be interrelated: hearing, seeing, and behavior problems. He has been to the audiologist and will be having eye muscle surgery on the 9th. I met with the behavior consultant yesterday who has some suggestions.
Hubby is still working hard; in fact, he is working today, even though it is Saturday. It is hard for us to spend quality time together as he is gone so much. Usually he doesn't arrive home until 9 or 10, sometimes later. Generally I am preparing for bed or asleep by the time he arrives home.
The cat is his usual self. He destroyed part of a roll of toilet paper yesterday though. The little rascal has a new cat scratcher which he seems to like, so I'm not sure why he felt he needed to play with TP!
The dogs are their usual annoying selves. Pup continues to believe the house is her playground, bathroom, etc. Dog does okay most of the time, although she is a bit too curious about the trash. Both have spent time outside this week. They don't seem to like their outdoor accommodations though. The pup especially prefers to bark the entire time she is outdoors.
Right now it is time to clean the house. I will admit that it is hard to know where to begin. It seems as though it is one continual cleaning process as everyone in the house messes things up even during the process of cleaning. I guess I had better get to work though.
Have a stupendous Saturday! It is the last one of February as we begin March on Monday.

Snow Day!
We were blessed with a wonderful snow day today! Praise God! It has been a fun and productive day. I have finished laundry and dishes. We've been outside in the snow some. It's just been a good day!

New Blog
I created this blog in the last month or so, but I hadn't yet posted anything. With all of the various roller coasters of life, I felt like this might be a good place to take the ride. Join me if you like!
